Methodological review of a participatory design experience in La Rioja, Argentina.

Abstract

This article analyzes a participatory design process carried out to prepare the draft of a linear park located within an Urban Nature Reserve and in articulation with a Popular Neighborhood in the city of La Rioja, Argentina. This experience arose from the initiative of provincial State agencies territorially linked to the intervention sector and was developed in coordination with two academic researchers. In this context, the theoretical contributions of the pioneering authors of participation in architecture were taken up again to define the methodological approach used in the territory. In this instance, the objective of the work is to review the process developed in order to recognize the scope and limitations of the methodology used. This makes it possible to contribute, on the one hand, to future initiatives of a similar scale and complexity and, on the other hand, to the guiding hypothesis of the entire process: it is possible to incorporate participatory design into the set of tools deployed by the State in the transformation of space. public. In this sense, it is concluded that undertaking participatory design processes from the State guarantee a certain continuity of the experiences, which favors the gradual improvement of the instruments used from the evaluation and subsequent feedback.
